Instructions

The State Land Department encourages you to contact the Department at (602) 542-1133 prior to submittal of your application. The Department may be able to address questions or concerns regarding the land you wish to lease prior to your expenditure of the non-refundable filing fee. Completion of this application does not in any way obligate the Arizona State Land Department to approve the application.


NON-REFUNDABLE FILING FEE must be submitted with your application. 

Authorizations

It is the responsibility of the Applicant to obtain all authorization(s) necessary to initiate or continue the proposed use on the subject land. Failure to do so may result in cancellation of the permit. Applicant must adhere to all local zoning codes. It is the responsibility of the Applicant to check with the local jurisdiction for compliance requirements.

Improvements

  • Construction of permanent improvements is prohibited. Only temporary removable improvements may be placed on the subject land and only with prior written approval of the Department.
  • An Application to Place Improvements must be submitted and approved prior to placement.
  • Improvements must be removed and the land restored to its original condition at the cancellation, expiration or abandonment of the permit.
  • Signs do not require an Application to Place Improvement.

Natural Products

This application cannot be used for the collection of natural products. Removal of natural products from Trust lands must be by sale at public auction, after advertising and appraisal.

Grazing

Unless disclosed no credit shall be given to the applicant for any claimed grazing use of private or federal lands within the ranch unit.


Federal Allotment










You must provide a registered brand; failure to do so will cause your application to be returned. The name(s) on the certificate must match the applicants name(s). Once a registered brand has been obtained, a copy of it must be uploaded with the application.



















Note: In the case of a Special Land Use Permit, new improvements must be temporary and are non-reimbursable


Note: Approval of this application does not constitute approval of any improvements. An Application to Place Improvements must be submitted to the Department after a lease is obtained and prior to construction of the improvement(s). Pursuant to A.R.S. § 37-321, lessee is not entitled to reimbursement for improvements that have not been authorized by prior written approval from the Department.

Permittee must adhere to all local zoning codes and acquire permits from local entities before construction begins. It is the responsibility of the Applicant to check with local jurisdiction for compliance requirements.

Competitive & Commercial Recreation Permit






The Department requires that applicants upload a centerline GPS track of the trail(s). The cost of this survey is borne by the applicant.

GPS Guidelines

  • Identify a Section Corner within the surveyed area, and document the type of monument found (brass cap, reinforced rod, fence post, etc.)
  • Record a continuous GPS track with points along the trail centerline, upon entering and exiting STL, entering and exiting each subsequent section, and at least every 0.01 mile (~52 ft) in between
  • Document trail width, length, and condition
  • Upload a GIS Shape File, GPS track log, or another electronic record of the completed GPS line
